The primary objective of this lesson is to initiate the process and establish the foundation for your website. So here’s what I want you to tackle this week.

Identify the Purpose of Your Website:

Start by defining the primary goal of your website. What do you aim to achieve with it? This could be attracting potential employers, landing clients, or showcasing your portfolio. Write this down as it will guide your website design and content.

Example 1: If you're a freelance web designer specializing in e-commerce websites, the purpose of your website could be to exhibit your e-commerce projects, highlight your expertise in this niche, and attract online retailers looking for an expert in e-commerce web design.

Example 2: If you're launching a digital marketing agency as a web designer, your website's purpose could be to outline the comprehensive marketing services you offer (such as SEO, content marketing, social media management, and of course, web design), showcase successful case studies, and attract businesses seeking effective digital marketing solutions.

Example 3: If you're a web designer who also offers web development services, the purpose of your website could be to demonstrate your design-to-development workflow, highlight your technical skills alongside your design skills, and attract clients looking for a one-stop solution for both web design and development.

Choose a Template or Layout

Explore the wide range of templates and built-in layouts available on Wix Studio. Choose one that aligns with your website's purpose and your personal style. Don't stress about finding the perfect one at this stage - the objective is to get started and you can always refine it later.

Share Your Progress

Once you've taken these steps, share proof you’ve done it. This could be the link to your free site, a screenshot of your chosen template, a brief description of your website's purpose, or any initial ideas or questions you may have.

Don't Sweat the Details (Yet)

At this stage, don't worry too much about the specifics of your website's layout or design. The focus is on getting started, not perfection. In our next lesson, we'll delve deeper into the design and layout fundamentals for an effective website. This will provide you with the knowledge and tools to refine your website and make it as effective as possible.
